Doctors still aren’t sure what causes rosacea, but in a lot of people, things that make your face flush also make rosacea worse. When you flush, blood rushes to your face, making it red and warmer.

You’ve probably noticed that certain foods, temperatures, activities, emotions — or something else entirely — will trigger your rosacea to flare up. Here are some common rosacea triggers.

Foods and drinks:
• Alcohol
• Spicy foods
• Hot drinks
• Hot foods (in temperature)

Activities:
• Exercise or heavy exertion
• Hot baths or saunas

Weather conditions:
• Hot weather
• Cold weather
• Humid weather
• Wind
• Sunlight

Emotions:
• Stress or anxiety
• Sudden change in emotion, like feeling embarrassed or bursting out laughing

Medical conditions:
• Menopause
• Chronic cough
• Caffeine withdrawal syndrome

Skin Care Products:
• Harsh ingredients
• Using too many different products & ingredients

Other triggers:
• Medications, such as topical steroids, some blood pressure drugs, and some opiate painkillers

In a Survey conducted by the National Rosacea Society, 1066 rosacea patients found that their most common factors included the following:

Sun exposure 81%
Emotional stress 79%
Hot weather 75%
Wind 57%
Heavy exercise 56%
Alcohol consumption 52%
Hot baths 51%
Cold weather 46%
Spicy foods 45%
Humidity 44%
Indoor heat 41%
Certain skin-care products 41%
Heated beverages 36%
Certain cosmetics 27%
Medications 15%
Medical conditions 15%
Certain fruits 13%
Marinated meats 10%
Certain vegetables 9%
Dairy products 8%
Other factors 24%

Keep in mind that not all of these things will trigger your rosacea. Everybody is different. The important thing is to learn what causes your own rosacea symptoms. Using a diary to keep track can be very beneficial in tracking what triggers your rosacea symptoms. Once you’ve figured out what your rosacea triggers are, find ways to avoid them.

Food and drinks – Don’t eat foods that cause rosacea symptoms. You could also try some simple substitutions. For instance, in the morning, replace that steaming mug of coffee with iced coffee.

Exercise – Unfortunately, working out can worsen your rosacea. But you still need to be physically active. So change your routine. Instead of one long workout, try splitting it into several shorter segments. Try longer, low-intensity workouts instead of more demanding ones. And stay cool. Don’t exercise outside when it’s too hot. If you’re inside, use a fan or air conditioner. During your workout, drink plenty of water. Afterward, cover your face with a cool cloth.

Weather – You should always wear a hat do the obvious: dress warmly on cold days and lightly on hot ones. You should also always use sunscreen to protect your skin while outside, rain or shine. A product perfectly suited for the most sensitive and rosacea prone skin is the new PyratineXR® Crème with Zinc Oxide.

Formulated with Zinc Oxide, it absorbs quickly without leaving a white residue on the skin. Broad Spectrum SPF 30 coverage protects the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays while antioxidants provide the skin with further protection. Pyratine’s® advanced cytokinin technology also affords protection against lower frequency UVC rays often found in the environment; thus, you now have the ABC’s of sun protection covered.

This unique product has been clinically proven to significantly reduce redness, inflammatory acne lesions, fine lines, wrinkles, mottled hyperpigmentation, rough skin and spider veins while increasing the skin’s moisture content by helping repair the skin barrier function; now with the addition of the highly effective sunscreen, Zinc Oxide, PyratineXR® Crème with Sunscreen SPF 30 provides broad spectrum sun protection. With this one product doing the work of four (anti-inflammation, anti-aging, moisturization and sun protection), PyratineXR® Crème with Sunscreen SPF 30 eliminates the need to use multiple products, thus reducing the skin’s exposure to a multitude of ingredients (Consider the fact that most topical products have 10 to 12 different chemicals in their formulation which means your skin would be exposed to 40 to 50 chemicals if you applied four topicals daily). This is extremely beneficial as the individual suffering from rosacea already has compromised skin.

Skin Care Product – Avoid using product with harsh chemicals such as Witch Hazel. Gently cleanse your skin daily and apply a gentle multi-functional creme which provides moisturization and sun protection such as PyratineXR® Crème with Zinc Oxide. If face make-up is desired, use a hypo-allergenic foundation or BB cream after applying your crème. At night, after gently cleansing your face apply a gentle yet effective night product such as PyratineXR® Crème or PyratineXR® Lotion. For those stubborn areas, try using PyratineXR® Intensive Anti-Redness and Healing Ointment followed by the PyratineXR® Crème or Lotion.

Emotional stress – Learn ways to calm yourself before stress results in a rosacea flare-up. You might try deep breathing exercises or yoga.

Medication – If you think a medicine may be a trigger, talk to your doctor. See if you could take a different drug.

Have you just been diagnosed with rosacea? Well, you’re not alone as 16 million people in the United States have rosacea, a chronic skin condition that causes facial redness. Once thought of as a rare mysterious malady, rosacea is now the fifth most common diagnosis made by dermatologists, according to figures recently published in Skin and Allergy News.

As common as rosacea is, the frequent blushing or flushing associated with the condition frequently embarrasses people. Surveys by the National Rosacea Society found that 3 out of 4 patients said the condition adversely affects their self-confidence.

Now you know that you have a medical condition and that you have no reason to feel embarrassment or shame. The next step is to learn more about what brings on your episodes and how you can best care for your skin.

Common triggers include sun exposure, very hot or very cold weather, alcohol, very hot foods, spicy foods, intense exercise, and stress. In addition, menopause and some drugs may cause flushing. To help identify your triggers, keep a diary of when symptoms appear, what you were doing at the time, the environmental conditions, and what you think may have brought on your symptoms, then discuss this with your doctor.

Proper skin care is also a major component in battling the effects and severity of Rosacea. A rosacea facial care routine recommended by many dermatologists starts with a gentle and refreshing cleansing of the face. Sufferers should use a mild cleanser that is not grainy or abrasive, such as PyratineXR® Soothing Anti-Oxidant Cleanser, and spread it with their fingertips. A soft pad or washcloth can also be used, but avoid rough washcloths, loofahs, brushes or sponges. Next, rinse the face with lukewarm water several times and blot it dry with a thick cotton towel. Never pull, tug, scratch or treat the face harshly. Sufferers should let their face air dry for several minutes before applying a topical medication.

The medical standard for treating rosacea is to use a moisturizer and sunscreen along with the prescription product your physician may prescribe. Often times, oral antibiotics and topical drugs such as Finacea® and Mirvaso® are prescribed. These drugs are effective but fall short as complete therapy as they are limited in terms of treating only one of the three key symptoms of rosacea, facial redness, inflammatory lesions and spider veins; in addition, they present problems for continuous long term treatment as oral antibiotics cause changes to the flora of the gut and the others either have contraindications for continuous long term use or cause irritation.

Ideally, a rosacea sufferer will apply as few topicals as necessary since they already have sensitive, irritated skin. For each topical you apply, you are subjecting your skin to 10 to 15 chemicals and this is over the entire course of treatment. Look for a product that offers multiple benefits, e.g., Pyratine® which has clinically been shown to significantly reduce facial redness, inflammatory lesions, spider veins, irritation and mottled hyperpigmentation; in addition, Pyratine® is a powerful moisturizer and anti-aging compound, thus eliminating the need for applying an additional moisturizer or anti-aging product. And now, Pyratine® offers a crème that combines the active with a sunscreen, zinc oxide providing a sun protectant factor of 30 – one product giving you all of the benefits you require to treat your rosacea effectively and economically.

Don’t let a rosacea diagnosis scare you, take action and you can minimize its effect on your life!

Did you know that the sun’s damaging rays can be 80x stronger during the winter?

This is just one of many facts that most people are unaware of when caring for their skin and their health. Snow and ice reflect UV rays. Even when it seems gray and dreary outside you should still keep your SPF routine up on a daily basis as UVB rays still penetrate through clouds and fog.

The sun emits UV rays, which is invisible radiation that can harm the skin and lead to premature skin aging and/or skin cancer, at all times throughout the year. There are two different types of UV rays, UVA and UVB. UVA rays are the most common, and the most harmful, type of sunshine as it reaches beyond the top layer of skin. Sun exposure is the number one cause of aging and more than 90% of skin cancer cases are caused by sun exposure. More people are learning about the health hazards associated with too much sun exposure. Over exposure to the sun and its harmful UV rays can result in premature aging, wrinkles, skin cancer (particularly melanoma), severe burns, age spots, and the proliferation of moles which can be an indicator of developing cancer in the future. Avoiding hazardous UV rays is essential to preventing skin damage. Protection from UV rays has made the use of sunscreen more important than ever.

Even in warmer climate areas that do not get any snow, your skin is still in danger as there is a thinner ozone layer around the earth. The colder seasons mean the ozone layer is thinning out. So there is less ozone in our atmosphere to absorb the sun’s UV radiation. Even though it feels colder outside, there’s actually more of the sun’s harmful rays hitting the earth’s surface and, yes, your skin. Prevent getting a cold-weather burn or damage to your skin by using a product with at least an SPF30.

Many of us remember to protect our skin, and now with PyratineXR® Crème SPF30 we can also care for and treat our skin. PyratineXR® Crème SPF30 is MORE THAN JUST A SUNSCREEN – IT IS A 4 IN 1 PRODUCT DESIGNED TO REPLACE THE NEED TO USE MULTIPLE PRODUCTS ON WHAT MAY ALREADY BE SENSITIVE AND COMPROMISED SKIN. PyratineXR® Crème with Zinc Oxide offers you all of the benefits of Regular PyratineXR® Crème or Lotion while providing you broad spectrum sun protection, SPF30 with the addition of the non-chemical and mineral Zinc Oxide. Now one product combats the damage that the sun, and life, can cause! It provides anti-aging benefits by reducing fine lines, wrinkles, rough skin and hyperpigmentation, significantly reduces facial redness, and is an excellent and potent moisturizer that also has SPF30 protection all-in-one.

Using a 4-in-1 product such as PyratineXR® Crème with SPF30 also provides the tremendous benefit of reducing the need for using multiple products which can actually be counterproductive and cause irritation to the skin. . .Not to mention the money saving benefits – it’s much easier on the wallet to purchase just one product as opposed to four different products.

PyratineXR® is a nature identical product and found in plants and is the only non-prescription product clinically tested in humans at major medical centers showing to significantly ameliorate the signs of aging by dramatically reducing fine lines, wrinkles, skin roughness, mottled hyperpigmentation, facial redness, inflammatory lesions and spider veins while helping to repair the skin barrier function increasing the skin’s moisture content.

All the clinical trials conducted on PyratineXR® utilized U.S. Food and Drug Administration protocols and guidelines; the studies have been published in the prestigious “Journal of Drugs In Dermatology”. . . Request Your Free Copies, You Owe it to Your Face!

So remember to always protect your skin year round regardless of how dreary it may look outside! After all, your skin is your body’s largest organ and it can also be the most sensitive.

Your sensitive skin presents a complicated treatment challenge, with multiple symptoms, ranging from facial redness, to inflammatory acne or lesions, to spider veins. If you try to treat each symptom individually, you can find yourself using a host of different topical products that may conflict with one another. For example, antibiotics are often prescribed to treat acne or lesions, while acid-based topical products are used to dry them, and moisturizers are added to reduce dryness. Each product may contain ten or more ingredients, meaning 30 or more products layered onto your delicate, irritated skin—not a healthy cocktail.

Each type of product brings with it the risk of side effects that periodically require starting and stopping treatment. Antibiotics interfere with healthy intestinal flora, acids aggravate reactive skin, and moisturizers carry a whole set of potential sensitivities. The on and off pattern means you struggle with a frustrating round of somewhat improved symptoms, followed by a period of worsening as you suspend or switch out one or more treatment choice.

Scientists at Pyratine LLC, developers of the cytokinin-based product Kinerase, have worked through extensive clinical studies at the Department of Dermatology at the University of California-Irvine, to demonstrate that PyratineXR® achieves rapid, significant reduction in skin lesions, facial redness, hyperpigmentation, roughness and dry skin in just a few weeks. Spider veins showed dramatic improvement as well with continued application.

PyratineXR® uses the newest generation of cytokinins, listed as 0.125% furfuryl tetrahydropyranyladenine in the ingredient deck, to produce a single topical product that is fast becoming the preferred choice for dermatologists treating rosacea symptoms.

The old start-and-stop syndrome is overcome, as PyratineXR® maintains a soothing, calming effect for sensitive, inflamed skin. The essential molecule in Pyratine has been shown to have no side effects, in part because it is a pure product with just one key ingredient. Equally exciting, its soothing moisturizing base eliminates the need for multiple products and the usual risk of product overload.
